For the adjustments on this headshot, my goal was to glamor it up…. Smooth out her skin, give her hair a little more shape, and make some of her features a little bigger. I wanted to make these changes look sleek and ready for a magazine, while still maintaining a realistic look.
To smooth out her skin I selected the portions (face and arms) that I wanted to correct. Once I had that done, I basically just put a Gaussian blur over the top. I was able to smooth out other details, such as pores and blotches, with the spot healing brush and clone stamp tool. I also used these tools later on to get rid of some of the bloodshot portions of her eyeballs. In addition to correcting the eye balls, I used the dodge tool to make the whites of her eyes brighter.
I used the liquefy tool to shape her hair a little rounder, get rid of some of the excess skin on her arm, make her eyes and lips bigger and fuller, and make her nose just a bit smaller.
